Undergraduate Programs
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) offers a Bachelor of Science with major in
Computer Science, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, and a new Bachelor of Information Engineering Technology (BIET). These three programs are designed to provide
a balanced and modern course of study that will prepare students for immediate employment in industry or for
graduate study in computing.
The Computer Science, Computer Engineering and the BIET undergraduate programs are offered on the main campus in Boca Raton as well as on the Port St. Lucie campus.
The Bachelor of Science degree program in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission
(CAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), and the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering
is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology
(ABET). The BIET program is designed in compliance with the Technology Accreditation Criteria (TAC) of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Computer Science
Graduates of the Computer Science program are prepared for careers with software companies that develop stand-alone, networked,
or web applications or system software; or with companies that develop software in scientific or engineering
environments. The degree focuses on the software aspects of computing, but also includes the basics of
computer architecture. The core courses are in the areas of programming (in C and C++),
software engineering, algorithms, database, operating systems, theory, and machine organization.
Computer Engineering
Graduates of the Computer Engineering program are prepared for careers in the computer
industry as well as with companies that integrate computers into more complex products. The degree focuses
on system and hardware aspects of computing, but also includes programming and software engineering.
The core courses are in the areas of logic design, computer design and architecture, microprocessors, design automation,
operating systems, software engineering and electronics.
Bachelor of Information Engineering Technology
The BIET program provides enhanced technical and non-technical skills and a consistent path from the Associate of Science (AS) to a bachelor’s degree. The program emphasizes practical skills in programming, database, networking, web-based applications, and computer security as well as technical communications and project management. It has less mathematics and natural science than the programs in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
