Transportation Airports Taxi Shuttles Train Driving Directions from Airports Hotels Map of FAU Parking Weather and other Local Information Local Tours and Points of Interest Transportation Boca Raton is not know as the most pedestrian-friendly of cities. Generally speaking the city requires you to have a vehicle to get from each one of these places to another. Try renting a car at the airport for your greatest convenience (and to avoid any walking injuries!). Tri-Rail is a commuter line that links Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. It has 18 stations on the Southern Floridian coast. Boca Raton is on the line, as are nearby Delray Beach and Boynton Beach. However, as for Public transportation
around Boca Raton herself, there is essentially none, so be sure to
rent a car (see the "Taxis
and Rental Cars" page for some companies). The sprawling, manicured
lawns on Boca are spread out, and it would make no sense to try walking
almost anywhere. You can use the FAU University Travel Agent to book all your travel or answer questions, they charge a $35 to book the airfare and no charge to book the rental car or hotel: Elena Bush, Manager Boersma Travel Florida Atlantic University 777 Glades Road Road Bldg 31 Room 134 Boca Raton, Florida 33431 USA Telephone: +1 561 297-3986 FAX: +1 561 297-3060 Email: ebush@boersmatravel.com Airports: There are 3 international airports you may choose from:
You can pre-book and be met at the gate by an Airport Limousine/Shuttle agent
There is a train service between Miami and Boca Raton. From the Miami airport there are shuttles that take you to the train station. At the train station purchase a ticket to Boca Raton. There is no transportation once you get to your destination, call Access Taxi 442-2222 to take you to the hotel. There are some hotels within walking distance of the train station but crossing a busy highway. For train schedules see: http://www.tri-rail.com, for Station addresses and direction and connection information: http://www.tri-rail.com/system_map/index.htm Telephone: 1-800-TRI-RAIL (1-800-874-7245) Driving Directions from Airports to FAU You can search for navigation maps at: Maps and Driving Directions FROM MIAMI AIRPORT TO FAU
