Extinction Depth

Evapotranspiration from the water table ceases at a point below a surface elevation. This point is called the Extinction Depth and is the depth to which the roots of plants extend below land surface. In the model the extinction depths are based on estimates of root depth for a given vegetation and within a particular land use classification. A file containing evapotranspiration extinction depth is produced as output from the ET/Recharge Module and are used by both the SFWMM surface water model and the MODFLOW groundwater model.
